Introduction

Permit me to make a brief introduction to this journal, which promises to be quite extensive. In the (rather) likely event that you really enjoy my writing, I invite you to also peruse the journal I kept of my trip to China & Taiwan in May/June of 2002. That is easily located by returning to my homepage.
My name is Jim, and I am attending Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (SUPT) at Columbus AFB, Mississippi. If you want to look on a map, it's about 8 miles north of the "city" Columbus, MS. See Mapquest's map of Mississippi for help with locating it. I'm keeping this journal for my friends and family to vicariously experience SUPT via my eloquent prose; if you do not fall into one of those categories, I still encourage you to read my journal! Some of you may simply be curious about the process of becoming an Air Force pilot, and others may hope to follow in my footsteps. In any event, hopefully the journal will capture and hold your attention for the 14-or-so months I will be spending here at Columbus.
Please note that for reasons of security (OPSEC, COMPUSEC, etc) I will probably be leaving out some details here and there. Just because something isn't included, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's classified. If I leave out something you want to know, mail me and ask. Maybe I just forgot. Or maybe I didn't, and it's classified or maybe it's just one of those things better left unsaid. There shouldn't be anything in here (aside from my personal experience) that you can't find in a hundred other places on the internet. Furthermore, any pictures I include in this journal have been meticulously inspected to make sure that there's nothing you, the reader, shouldn't be seeing. In sum, I must assume that Osama and Saddam are reading this and if I don't want them to know something, it won't be in here.
These items in mind, let's get crackin'!
